Sansum Solutions Group Limited were delighted to be able to contribute a donation of £200 towards an exciting new farm development project at a local school in Wells, St Cuthbert’s C of E Junior School.
This exciting project inspired by Helen Mullinger (Headteacher), Mrs Johnson and Mrs McLaren, is in the early stages of its creation and development and will offer a holistic approach to learning for those children at the school who may have a social and emotional mental health need, providing them with a safe and peaceful place, within which to learn outside of the classroom for a while. The farm area will add value to each child’s learning experience, offering limited sensory input, building confidence and self-esteem.
In preparation, St Cuthbert’s have selected a previously neglected and empty space, overgrown with brambles, thicket, old raspberry bushes and weeds. Already the area has been completely transformed through the hard work and dedication of Mrs McLaren and a small team at the school with 4 flourishing raised vegetable beds growing healthy crops of sweetcorn, canola, lettuces, runner beans, kale and cabbage. There is also a polytunnel situated on the site growing a selection of tomatoes, peppers and aubergine, to name just a few.
Helen Mullinger of St Cuthbert’s school and Mrs McLaren are sure to put the £200 to good use and Sansum have pledged further support to the project as it continues to expand and grow. Sansum are delighted to assist funding this project, providing a social value benefit to our local communities in the knowledge that this will be of huge benefit to the local children that attend at St Cuthbert’s C of E Junior School.
